Hailing from Hawthorne in sunny California, The Beach Boys are an American rock band that made a name for themselves as the most popular surf band in the States.
For more than six decades, The Beach Boys' music has left an indelible mark on American history. The band came together in 1961 and its current lineup comprises Brian Wilson (vocals, keyboards, bass), Mike Love (vocals, percussion, saxophone, Electro-Theremin), Al Jardine (vocals, guitar, bass), and Bruce Johnston (vocals, keyboards, bass).
In 1963, the group achieved their first national hit with "Surfin' U.S.A.," kicking off a series of top-ten singles that embodied the youth culture of southern California, characterized by surfing, cars, and romance, famously known as the "California sound." They drew inspiration from earlier pop vocal groups, 1950s rock and roll, and R&B, crafting their distinct sound.
