Whiskey Myers will be bringing their Acoustic Tour to the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford on Thursday, December 11th. A night that promises to be filled with surprises. To start things off, Whiskey Myers are hinting at the fact that it's going to be them and "friends" on the stage. Who those friends are, and whether or not they'll take the stage in Connecticut, is still a bit of a mystery. Also, branding the show as part of their "Acoustic Tour" brings a ton of possibilities.
With one look at the tour poster and the date on the calendar for this show, you gotta believe they're going to be singing at least one Christmas song on this night. Maybe look for a softer punch than what you usually get from Whiskey Myers at their live shows. Does the "acoustic tour" label mean we won't see the typical hard country that most people associate with Whiskey Myers? It's not like these guys are going to leave their electric guitars at home for this tour! It is going to be interesting to see, though, if they go a little softer on "Bury My Bones" and "Ballad of a Southern Man." There's also a new album that you're going to want to listen to before December 11th rolls around. Whomp Whack Thunder is going to be upon us in early September. You're going to have a few months to listen to some of those tracks before you hear them live in Wallingford.
At the end of the day, you can enjoy this and any concert that you attend however you see fit, but it is shaping up to be a night to sit back, relax, and let the music do its thing. Whiskey Myers is known for their upbeat shows, but a lot of their tracks have some heartfelt lyrics, and if they're going to be dialing things back a bit, it could make for an ideal night to come with your hubby and cuddle a bit. The potential of Christmas songs making the playlist also lightens the mood even more. This might not be your average night with Whiskey Myers on stage, and that could be a good thing. You'll remember this one more once it's gone.
