Personally folks - we’re hype for this one here at Oakdale. EVERY year we say it’s our best one - and we do truly try to bring new and eclectic artists to us all - we show out for the fans out here on the east coast who just need a place to party. And THIS Friday on April the 24th - make sure to keep that saaaame energy folks. ‘Cause John Legend is having an Evening of Songs & Stories for us all - and you just can’t miss this one. ‘Cause when he’s gone, he’ s gone! From Rome to New York to Akron and everywhere in between - John is the certified GOAT, and we’re just excited for you to be here for the show!

John Legend is no secret and, if you’ve kept up with hip hop and R&B over the last two or three decades, you’ve probably heard his voice on the chorus or in the backing vocals of your favorite rapper’s songs, or behind the piano on some of the genres most iconic beats. John actually began his career working behind the beat for many iconic artists in rap, like Lauryn Hill’s Everything is Everything record Alicia Keys’ You Don’t Know My Name, as well as delivering support to Jay Z and Kanye West. He was the first artist Kanye signed to G.O.O.D Music back in the early 2000s, and his first record, Get Lifted, debuted in the Top 200 on Billboard’s charts, and went on to go double platinum. His first hit song was also on the record, titled Ordinary People. With this album, he went on to win three Grammys - including Best R&B Album, 

Legend’s accolades and industry connections are deep, and his voice is a testament to the soul of American R&B. Though legend has gone platinum multiple times across all his albums, nothing saw greater success than his 2013 single, All of Me. It peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and spent 23 weeks in the top 10 at the time. The song has gone Diamond (x10 platinum, although Legend has technically gone x14 platinum for the record), and Legend has made a lasting impression as a front man for Rhythm and Blues - not just a sideline character. His success has seen him go off to do multiple things in not only music but also television. He has produced stage plays, won Tony and Emmy awards, made rock operas, served as a vocal coach on The Voice, and even released Christmas albums. He may be the music industry’s most dedicated and genuine talent - and his curated selection of shows and performances is a testament to that.He’s a hard man to catch and keep up with - so let’s make sure to give him a warm welcome when he takes the stage in April.
