When others resist the urge to step into their father’s footsteps, Dweezil Zappa has no problem paying homage to his father’s legacy. Frank Zappa was an enigma of his time – his incredible work has created some of the most incredible guitar-driven staples. He rose to prominence in the ‘60s - being one of the original guitar gods and doing outstanding work with his band, The Mother of Invention. He would later rise to prominence in the ‘70s as a solo guitarist and drop and would release countless albums until 2023. His son, Dweezil Zappa, has made it a point to bring his father’s music to life through his band Zappa Plays Zappa. This tribute act has provided fans with a continuing live performance of Frank Zappa’s hits.

This 2024, Dweezil continues his father’s legacy by traversing the nation and serving over 30 excellent performances in major cities. A remarkable guitarist himself, Dweezil has also released a plethora of his own studio efforts and collaborated with renowned artists, such as Eddie van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Johnson, Weird Al Yankovic, and many more. He dropped his debut album, My Mother is a Space, in 1982 and released several studio efforts until 2015, with his latest Via Zammata.

In 2006, Dweezil began paying tribute to his father’s music through Zappa Play Zappa. Devoted to his father’s work, the band delivered setlists full of staples like “Chunga’s Revenge,” “Cosmik Debris,” “Muffin Man,” and many more. Aside from getting worldwide approval from Frank Zappa fans, Zappa Plays Zappa also won numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance – where the band covered Frank Zappa’s smashing instrumental track, “Peaches en Regalia.” In 2016, Dweezil celebrated the 50th Anniversary of The Mothers of Invention's debut album, Freak Out! He later renamed his tribute band act Dweezil Zappa Plays Frank Zappa, avoiding copyright issues.

This year, he celebrates the 50th anniversary of Roxy & Elsewhere and Apostrophe. These two highly acclaimed works were released in 1974 and both entered the mainstream charts. Apostrophe notably went gold after selling over 50,000 copies.
