Dropping his newest album and announcing a huge run of shows around the world, J.I.D. is in it for real music. “God Does Like Ugly,” a name inspired by his late grandmother, debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200, proving his dominance in the global rap scene. In an era of streaming, the man isn’t chasing numbers on the screen… He’s determined to get “asses in seats” as his tour kicks off in full swing. 

“Just give me 10,000 people a night, 15,000. You would never hear from me again,” J.I.D. told Billboard. “I would never tweet again. I will never do nothing but drop albums for those people.”

It’s all about the music. All he wants are lit nights with the people who matter as he serves his signature tracks and new bangers on stage. Steadily growing his fanbase over the last decade, the man has come a long way and he says  it’s a process of “no skipping steps.”

“I don’t play the stream game, I don’t play the bundles. I just play, “come to the show,” he told Billboard. 

With a deluxe version of the record coming up, J.I.D. shares that he’s waiting on some features but promises that they’re cooking up something extremely special. Though it took a decade of sleepless nights and starting off with small shows, the man has cultivated a diehard fanbase who stood by in support of his sick music.
